Dacia Bridges was a powerhouse vocalist cited by some as reminiscent of Tina Turner, as well as an accomplished songwriter and performer. From the age of five on she had been gracing the stage not only as a singer, but also as a professional dancer, choreographer, actress and model. She relocated back to the United States after spending decades performing in Germany and throughout Europe.
Dacia brought to the stage her multitude of experiences as a singer-songwriter-performer. Having collaborated with famed musicians such as Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, Mousse T, Shakedown, Alex Kenji, and Tom Craft, as well as her own bands: Tape, Dacia & The WMD, The Help and her solo act Dacia Bridges. Touring with bands such as: Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, Stone Sour, Kittie, Fall, Die Artzte and playing festivals such as: Rock Am Ring, Rock Am park, Radio Regenbogen and Festivalbar.
Dacia made her rock debut with her band Tape, who entered the German Single Charts with the single “Yeeha” At the same time, her debut as a songwriter and vocalist topped the international dance charts with dance hit “I Begin To Wonder” initially performed with J.C.A. and later successfully covered by Danni Minogue.
Dacia was one of the main star vocalists and moderators performing hits from Tina Turner, Cher, and songs from her current album, That’s The Sound, in the show “Celebrating The King” opening the new Friedrichsbau Variete in Stuttgart, Germany from 2014/2015. In returning to the United States, she performed with Chatterbird, an alternative classical music collective based in Nashville, Tennesse, and starred as Mrs. Shields in the musical “A Christmas Story” at the Civic Theater in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Dacia Bridges Project consisted of Kalamazoo Michigan’s finest female line-up. Cori Somers (Red Sea Pedestrians), Carolyn Koebel (An Dro, Elden Kelly), Sarah Fuerst (Corn Fed Girls, Thunderbolt & Lightfoot).
The group was making plans for the commercial release of an upcoming album and European tour. Dacia died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm on August 1st, 2019. Carolyn, Sarah and Cori are working to release their EP in progress ~ The Dacia Bridges Project: Road Back to You, which will be available through a bandcamp link on this website in the coming months. All proceeds will go to an ongoing trust fund established for her beloved daughter, Billie Sky.
